How do I subscribe?

This is a very easy process:

1. Start a new mail message.
   
2. In the To: line type: majordomo@mu.org
   
3. Leave the Cc: and Subject: lines blank.
   
4. In the Body of the message type:
   subscribe goths
   
5. Send

Next you will receive two E-mails:

1. The first message with the subject:
   "Majordomo results" is to let you know you need to "authenticate" the request to join.
   
   • This message will contain a line that states:
     subscribe goths [your name/nick] [email of where
     the request was sent from] the second message
     will be sent to this address.
     
   • If the above information is incorrect:
     -you need to re-subscribe as instructed above and
     in the Body type: subscribe goths [your email]
     -make sure the email address you give is
     is in the correct form: e.g. forlorn@forlorn.net
     and not just your name/nick.
     
2. The second message with the subject "Confirmation for
   subscribe goths" is to let you know the request to
   subscribe has been received and is asking you
   to mail a message back to verify that you want to join goths.
   To verify this:
   
   • . Send another message To: majordomo@mu.org
     
   • Again leave the Cc: and Subject: lines blank
     
   • In the body type or cut 'n paste the information
     in the second letter that looks like:
     auth [number] subscribe goths ["name/nick"] [<your email address>]
   • If your message area isn't big enough to make the above one line after goths insert a back slash (goths \ ) and then put your name and address on the next line.
   • If you don't want to subscribe don't send anything back.
     

Now that have verified wanting to join you will receive another email with the subject "Majordomo results" with what your just sent above from the second letter and the words Succeeded.

Then you will get one more email with the subject "Welcome to goths" Be sure to save, or even better print and save, this last message. It contains how to unsubscribe as well as how to contact someone for help and our welcome message which contains the reason/rules for goths@mu.org For more information on the list's policy email goths-approval@mu.org
